Summary

Orem Utah VA Community Based Clinic is seeking a Physician Assistant for Primary Care. The Physician Assistant will provide independent specified medical or other patient care service to our Veterans. The PA collaborates with other disciplines to develop - implement - and coordinate a system of patient care delivery that promotes communication - teamwork - high quality care - patient satisfaction - positive outcomes - appropriate utilization of resources and cost-effective services.

Duties

• General Description of Duties: The PA will be fully qualified and certified to function in a clinical role and in accordance with the guidelines and policies of the VASLCHCS
• This individual is delegated the authority and responsibility in their area of expertise to assume major clinical - consultative - educational - research - and administrative duties and assignments related to the examination of veterans seeking Primary Care at VASLCHCS
• Clinical The PA practices general internal medicine with a focus on outpatient clinical care
• Approximately 90% of the PA's time is dedicated to developing and maintaining an interdisciplinary approach to the direct care of general medicine clinic patients
• The PA independently follows their own panel of general internal medicine patients - functioning as their primary care provider
• This primary care/gatekeeper role is incumbent with a high degree of responsibility and independence
• The PA's assessment skills and breadth of knowledge must be excellent
• In addition - they must be a highly effective communicator in order to negotiate with consultants at the VAMC regarding the triaging of patients they refer
• Administrative Because of the highly integrative approach used in Primary Care outpatient clinics
• The PA must work closely with their colleagues and must serve as a leader in developing processes to improve care and satisfaction
• Research If assigned research duties - the PA enrolls patients in active Ambulatory Care research protocols and completes follow-up visits with required studies
• Supervisory Controls The incumbent reports clinically and administratively to: CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER (CMO) of the assigned clinic location and the ASSOCIATE CHIEF OF STAFF PRIMARY CARE (ACOS PC)
