Summary
*****A recruitment/relocation incentive may be offered to highly qualified candidate(s).***** The Psychiatry Service Staff Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric care to Veterans referred for Mental Health services within the Psychiatrist's approved privileges. In addition to Veteran care - the Psychiatrist may have responsibilities in other areas such as education and research. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - Please see below.
Duties
- The Staff Psychiatrist is responsible for providing psychiatric care in an outpatient setting - identifying Veterans' mental and medical health needs and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs
- Incumbent serves as the medical subject matter expert within their assigned team and may be responsible for coordinating activities of other health service personnel - resolving problems affecting Veteran care - and providing appropriate education for the Veteran and/or family members regarding the Veteran's care - condition - and its management
- Care is provided in accordance with VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines as measured by the Peer Review Program and various quality metrics

- Pay: Competitive salary - annual performance bonus - regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1 -000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm (Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor - the incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs) Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Authorized - As determined by Facility/Agency EDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentive
